Dr. B.J. Gallagher has over thirty five years of experience in the education field, working with large and small school systems as well as families and community groups in the private sector. In her current work with the Gallagher Group, LLC., Dr. Gallagher provides speech and language assessments and therapy, as well as Assistive Technology evaluations and intervention for clients of all ages.She is an approved vendor through the State of Maryland's Division of Rehabilitative Services. She continues to manage grants providing low cost assistive technology and training in rural Western Maryland counties along with several national outreach initiatives for training of 7-1-1 Speech-to-Speech (STS) telephone services.
Dr. Gallagher is an Area Coordinator of Technology and an Associate Professor at McDaniel College. B.J. has worked as a consultant for producing several modules and online courses that provide teachers with high quality professional development in everything from effective classroom management to differentiated instruction.
Professionally, Dr. Gallagher holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology and was granted the Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She maintains membership and leadership positions in many professional organizations including the Maryland Assistive Technology Network Leadership Team, the GFWC Civic Club of Oakland, and ASHA SIG 12. Dr. Gallagher represents Individuals with Speech Disabilities on the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Interstate Telelcommunications Relay Services Council. She was appointed by the Garrett County, Maryland Commissioners to the Garrett County Commission for Women.
Dr. Gallagher is both a national and international speaker on topics related to assistive technology, autism spectrum disorders, memory issues related to aging, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
